June – A month of my Favorite Quotes

#13 June 25, 2013 “Our Lord Jesus Christ doesn’t love us for what He can get out of us; He loves us in spite of the hurt we cause Him.  Make unconditional love your goal, and be humble, obedient, and self-sacrificing.”  John MacArthur, “Truth For Today; A Daily Touch of God’s Grace”.

To me, this is such a perfect picture of pure unconditional love.  Jesus doesn’t love us for He gets from us, because nothing we could ever give would be good enough.  He loves us in our fallenness, He loves us though we are dirty, stained and unlovable.  His love for His children and all of mankind is totally, completely and utterly unconditional.  And to prove the point, He died on the cross to prove it.

Our goal as fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ is to be just like Him.  That then requires us to love as He does, unconditionally.  And how we love unconditionally, just like John MacArthur states, we have to be humble, obedient and self-sacrificing.  Ouch!!  Not easy for us to do in our “self” driven society.

Dear wonderful Saviour, You have come to earth to show us just how to live and love.  May Your Holy Spirit enable us today to love as you did, unconditionally.  Enable us dear LORD Jesus to be humble, obedient and self-sacrificing today in all that we do and say.  In Your precious and Holy Name, Amen.

  5. Wow. What a beautiful reminder of so great a love. Thank you, Father. And thank you Toni for sharing this today! John McArthur’s words has just become one of my own new favorite quotes!

    • You are welcome! And I am so glad it really spoke to your heart! The LORD is so good at doing that for us!

  6. Toni, I love how you pick a particular theme for each month. That must make coming up with something so much easier than flying by the seat of your pants on a daily basis.

This month’s topic – quotes from Bible teachers – is the best! Thanks for taking the time to look these up and share them. I know it’s not easy for you to do so. 😉

    • It does. And because there are so many wonderful teachers/preachers of the Word, they say it so much better and their comments hit home. Thanks for your encouragement! It has been tough but I am muddling through. Love you!

  7. Yes! I’m so glad He loved us first even when we didn’t love Him. And I’m so glad He doesn’t merely love us for what He can get out of us. I’ve experienced too much of that already. In agreement with your prayer, I say, “Amen.” Thank you, Toni!
