Diving In

This morning as Larry was reading our daily devotional, the reading stated “Jesus said, ‘these things I have spoken to you, that in Me…..’ “.  Immediately when he read that I had the image in my brain of being on a diving board.  On that diving board, I was looking down and into the water.  How do we get into the water?  We have to take the step forward and take action, we have to “go” in.  We have to “dive” in.

As I thought about it, I think that is what happens to us as Christians.  We want to be “saved”.  We want to know for sure we are going to heaven.  So we quickly pray the prayer of salvation, get our “fire insurance” and then move on in our lives.

But Jesus wants something better for our lives, He says “in Me”.  So how do we get from our salvation, standing on the diving board, the surface of the relationship, to “in Me”?  We dive in.  We dive into Jesus.  We begin by reading the Word daily.  Any relationship that is going to grow takes time and effort.  When we spend time reading His Word, praying, meditating and thinking on Him, He willingly reveals Himself to us.  When we do these things, we are growing in our relationship with Him and thus, diving in.  The LORD is pleased and we are blessed when we dive into Jesus.
